This
is an excerpt from an improvised performance using ambient feedback,
home made electronics (see image below) and live coding in
SuperCollider.

|crl|:
Excerpt
from an experiment in generative audio performance. A simple sound
source, in this instance the sound of a bag of gravel being pushed
accross a table top, is fed into a generative system for reorganisation
and spatialization. The use of a generative algorithm is intended to
remove the need for the performer to pay constant attention to a
computer and it's limited interface, freeing them to manipulate more
tangible materials and concrete sound sources.

An
early experiment in generative audio. This is part of an ongoing
project in deriving material from the simplest of auditory
elements. In this piece a single crackle starts the process.
All
The Pressures of the Body:
A performer sings a
single note for as long as possible, expelling every last breath. The
note is recorded by a computer as it is sung. The fluctuating pitch,
amplitude and length of the note is measured and recorded. These values
are then used as the primary data source for the manipulation of the
recorded audio over the course of an installation.
This piece
is part of an ongoing interest in using generative procedures to derive
maximal detail from the simplest of sound sources.
